About Rimba

The Story Behind the World

Rimba began with a simple idea: every run should leave something beautiful behind.

Many of us already use Strava daily to track our activities, log our training splits, and stay motivated. But once a workout is saved, it often becomes a static entry buried in a busy chronological feed. Rimba was created to transform that hidden kinetic energy into a living, lasting landscape.

Every stride you log contributes to a private, miniature ecosystem that matures alongside you. Small steps sprout into vibrant meadows. Consistency grows ancient trees. Milestones transform into permanent scrapbook memories. Over time, your Rimba becomes a visual reflection of your dedication.

Designed to Complement, Not Replace

Rimba is built to serve as a companion layer to Strava, not a replacement. Strava remains the absolute source of truth for your athletic tracking, performance metrics, and device telemetry.

Rimba purposefully excludes analytical pacing charts, public activity feeds, and comparative athletic leaderboards. Instead, our engine translates athlete-authorized activity facts into private world progression, emotional milestone records, abstract diorama exploration, and curated rewards that celebrate your consistency.

Built on Privacy & Independence

I'm Mark, a runner and solo software developer based in Malaysia. Rimba is an independent passion project built outside of work hours, born out of my love for running, nature, and the intentional design of simple games that reward daily habits. Every line of code is written with the hope that it gives you a warm space to return to after a tough workout.

Rimba is architected around data minimization, strict single-athlete privacy, and absolute respect for your data footprint. Your activity telemetry is processed via direct, private webhook infrastructure straight to our secure internal database ledger. Your data is never sold, never shared with third-party brands, and never used to feed machine learning models or external networks. Your running journey remains completely yours. You can read all the details in my Privacy Policy.
